FAQS

What to expect in a Massage:

Massage is offered in durations of 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 minutes. If you are interested in a full body treatment and have a regular adult sized body or more and you are able to resource a 60 or 90 minute treatment this would be the best for you. Children rarely need more than 45min - depending on height and physical activity.

All therapeutic massages (offered by Sharon), are initially assessed as a simplistic Osteopathy appointment - at least a standing visual assessment to determine postural compensation.

All massage treatments are clothing optional, skin to skin contact is preferable and appropriate draping is always applied, a client’s integrity and privacy is always maintained.

  • A treatment is received on a massage table typically lying face down (prone) or on back (supine), certain treatments may require sidelying for best practice and the client will be given instruction when necessary. Position on table is adjusted if client requires additional support or flat posture is not achievable - ie injury, pregnancy.

Children/Infants

It is required that all children under the age of 14 be accompanied by an adult.

Prenatal

It is required that all prenatal treatments in first trimester have a doctor’s consent

What can I expect from an Osteopathic treatment?

An initial treatment includes full assessment and is 90 minutes in duration. Follow up appointments can be made of 60/45/30 min lengths.

The client is suggested to wear loose athletic (comfy) clothing, some movement is required from the client during the session. The client remains fully clothed for the duration of the treatment. Direct touch is applied to the client above clothing and when appropriate, linen.

After the assessment the outcomes are discussed with the client and the “epicentre” of fascial tension is determined and treatment is applied with consent.

Care post treatment may be exercises given, consideration to hydration and lifestyle. Most clients feel fatigue directly after treatment - caution to labour intensive activities, driving and critical decision making - take it easy. Rest is also part of selfcare. It’s not unusual to have physical “flu like” symptoms, structural shifts of the body may be felt for 72hrs and often weeks following..

Is MO covered by insurance?

Manual Osteopathy is not the same coverage as Osteopathy - Doctors of Osteopathy have a medical degree, can prescribe medicine and diagnose illness.

MO is covered by many insurances and can be direct billed. Please check with your insurance provider or ask our therapist for guidance.

Disclaimer: A Manual Osteopath can determine the quality of Fascia encapsulating an organ, nerve or cranial structure but can not diagnose the condition or function of these structures.

What to expect in a Reiki session:

The client is to arrive in loose comfortable clothing. Treatment is received reclined on a massage table, provisions can be made for mobility. The client is clothed completely during treatment.

Reiki is a tactile technique therapist’s hands may be placed on or slightly above a client's body. Reiki is neither invasive nor painful. Often a client feels greatly at ease during a treatment session.

After treatment the client is advised to plan for rest. - Occasionally fatigue and light headedness can be experienced.

Reiki may be covered through a Health and Wellness account but not usually a regulated health insurance program.

What to expect in a Spiritual Response Therapy:

In person or via distance Spiritual Response Therapy is non-invasive, touch-free technique that allows your facilitator (as conduit) to access your Akashic Records to clear present life, intergenerational trauma and past life records that hold spiritual and somatic energy. In a protected, guided environment releasing these “records” or subtle energies may allow the client to achieve greater wellness and opportunity to move past limiting subconscious blocks or beliefs.

All online bookings for Spiritual Response therapy, will be assumed to be in person unless a distance appointment has been discussed and confirmed.  Whether in person or via distance, it is recommended the client is lying in a comfortable safe environment free of interruptions - as a deep state of relaxation is often achieved. The practitioner is in communication with your spiritual support team and (often with a use of pendulum and charts) will be guided to experiences or energies/ emotions to which the soul or inner child are holding as trauma. This is a spoken treatment with no physical touch required. Sessions may be recorded if requested.

Disclaimer: No spiritual treatment is offered as medical advice or replacement for medical advice or treatment. Please always refer to your medical physician if you have concerns for wellbeing.
